The over-arching goal of the trans-national Programme on Sustainable Renovation will be to increase both the quality and the quantity of building renovation activities in Europe, to improve the resource efficiency (esp. energy and water) of the existing stock. The programme planned for ERACOBUILD shall encompass the three primary aspects of sustainability - environmental, economical and social. The prime focus of the programme will be given to that art of the building stock where intervention will have most impact; e.g. the larger fractions built before thermal insulation standards were adopted. In order to assure a potential impact on the existing building stock, the programme shall cover a broad scope including technological innovation, socio-economic concepts and supporting measures for sustainable renovation.
